How is a Windshield Replaced?

You ever wonder how is a Windshield Replaced? Here are the steps technicians take to do the replacement.

1. Removal of Trim
Technicians remove the old trim that is holding the windshield in place.

2. Removing the Windshield
Once the trim is removed, suction cups with handles are used to remove the windshield from its place.

3. Cleaning Out and Preparing the Pinch Weld
Once the windshield is removed, the pinch weld needs to be cleaned out and prepared.

4. Applying Urethane
Once the pinch weld is cleaned, urethane is applied to the edges of the pinch weld. Urethane is like a glue that holds the windshield in place.

5. Installing the New Windshield
The last step in the windshield replacement process is to install the new windshield. The windshield is carefully fitted over the hole on your car. The glass is moved so that it fits within the pinch weld.
